It seems to me that the Muse speaks loudest in the places we are the most at peace. Surely John Makowski loves this scene near where he lives, and he has captured the landscape and soft spirit of grazing in the lea. Of course this is one of those very special cows, a Belted Galloway, otherwise known as the striped cow or an Oreo cow. I look for these striking animals myself to and 'fro from work as I drive down 15-501. Delicately pictured with John's own mixture of glaze on clay, it's a sweet reminder to me of green pastures and leisurely comfort. ~ Mariah Wheeler
