Marty Broda "Gaia Spirit Stick Variety" at the Joyful Jewel 1-16-14

A variety of Gaia Spirit Sticks by Marty Broda

Marty Broda lives close to the land in a life full of integrity and grace.  You can tell this by the components and details of her art work, as well as by talking with Marty.  Gaia Spirit Sticks are made with care and with intent.  Each component, and there are between 10 and 30 of these in most pieces, is listed with the meaning Marty associates with it.  In this photo are Gaia Spirit Stick wall hangings, Dream Catchers, and the top of one Walking Stick.  I always take a deep breath when entering the room of the Spirit Sticks and say a prayer of gratitude for Marty and her work, and for the pieces of nature that Marty has recycled into these works of art.

Marty Broda "Centered Harmony" at the Joyful Jewel 8-3-13

"Centered Harmony"

Marty Broda

Wood and Mixed Media, ~ 3" x 12"

$39

This magical wall hanging by Marty Broda, sparkles from within, flounces from on top, and softly furs around your hand -- it is full of sooooooo much life!  I tried several pictures to get the glow from within that comes from what Marty called "Fairy Dust" -- drusy gemstone pieces that have been transformed to iridescence via a scientific alchemical process.  Jutting out from the interior of the weathered branch are also four crystal quartz points.  Here's what Marty says about these two, which are only two of the ten or so different components of this wonderful piece.

"Fairy Dust - Calms basal chakras.  Eases emotional heartache.  Renews strength & balance.  Aids spirit communication with Gaia.  Harmony.  Purified home & environment.

Crystal Quartz - "Stone of Power" Connects physical & spiritual dimensions.  Harmonizes natural aspects of existence.  Purifies.  Heals.  Calms. Connects star energy with the soul."

Marty Broda "Chakra Healing Circle" at the Joyful Jewel 6-23-13

"Chakra Healing Circle for Loving Body, Mind, Heart & Spirit"

Marty Broda

Wood, Leather, Rose Quartz, Yarn and Mixed Media

Circle is ~ 11" Diameter, Tassels ~14", $65

Marty Broda made this, as she has her other, Gaia Spirit Sticks, with a unique meaning and has identified each component.  The piece can act as a dream catcher but is even more -- a way to connect with nature; a tool for prayer, meditation, ceremony or ritual; a symbol of life: challenge, growth, hope, personality, character, goal, passage or transformation; a good luck piece; is a peace maker in groups; is an art object to decorate personal & sacred space.  This Chakra Healing Circle contains all of the rainbow colors, a powerful and beautiful Rose Quartz gemstone crystal "wrapped" in wire so that it is "snuggled & cuddled within metal mesh for support & ease."  The inner web, similar to a spider's delicate structure, allows in positive energy while catching the negative and recyling it to light.
