Laura Davis "Coton de Tulear" at the Joyful Jewel 8-25-14

"Coton de Lear"
Laura Davis
Archival Print of Acrylic on Canvas, 5" x 7" framed to 8" x 10"
$45

This ever-so-sweet smile reminds me of my God-Dog, Sengii, who has just as elegant name as this "Coton de Lear".  He greats me with just this expression.  His eyes sparkle as he wags his whole body and kisses my feet and hands.  I feel so loved and I think he does too as evidenced by both of our grins.  A painting by Laura Davis like this one will surely touch a memory of canine love and bring a smile to the day.

Laura Davis "Blue Pit Bull" at the Joyful Jewel

"Blue Pit Bull"
Laura Davis
Acrylic on canvas, framed Original, 8" x 10"
$75

A rainy day here in Pittsboro.  The plants outside the Joyful Jewel are sooo happy. And I arrived at work today to find a poem from our "mascot" Shuga. So I decided that this should be a "doggy" day. This elegant and colorful "Blue Pit Bull" is by Laura Davis. Her dog paintings have such great personalities and wonderful colors. I don't know where he is, with all the numbers on the wall. You guess!

Laura Davis "Bulldog" at the Joyful Jewel 6-8-14

"Bulldog"
Laura Davis
Acrylic on canvas, 30" x 24"
$650, Original

Another possibility for Father's Day.  This large colorful painting by Laura Davis would be nice for a rough and tumble kind of guy, who also has a heart of gold.  I have wondered how people choose the dogs they do.  Who would choose a bulldog over say, a golden retriever or yorkie?  Perhaps because he looked at you like this one, communicating a sweetness, beaming joy and friendliness from inside.

Who recognizes this fun family?  Laura Davis has captured the outrageous fun of being a Bumkin.  I can relate, and to the interesting clothing choices too, especially the hats!
