One of my favorite human beings is Meinrad Craighead, an artist in Albuquerque. She's spent a lifetime studying and portraying shamanic images of the Divine Feminine.
But first, she was in a convent. Long ago, in that part of her life, she had a dream in which an animal figure told her to leave the Benedictines and move to New Mexico to paint. She was told that art was to be her service to the world, her way to 'feed the poor'.
That's the kind of artist I understand.
