Sheila Fleming "Hope" Altar at the Joyful Jewel 9-28-13

"Hope" Altar

Shelia Fleming

Mixed Media in an Altoid Box

$48

Here is one of the new altars that Sheila Fleming has made.  I especially like this one with the Mary Oliver quote.  Inside the little "purse" are more inspiring writings on the topic "Hope."  On the back is a magnet so you can have lots of reminders of the quest for Hope and Amazement.

Debbie Englund "Small Face Jug" at the Joyful Jewel 9-18-13

Small Face Jug

Debbie Englund

Ceramic, ~ 3/3/4" x 4"

$15

Ohh Debbie Englund, you could get me in trouble here.  This looks just like someone I know named Les, the same intense eyes and eyebrows, a mischevious crinkly smile like his.  I often see folks I know in Debbie's face mugs and jugs.  This one seems undeniable.  Anyone else recognize Les?

Can't you just imagine the comforting cuddle of this hat around a sweet tender newborn's head!  Almost makes me want to be born again just to feel this :)  Roberta Kraitsik must love babies as well as her knitting to design these comfortable, durable, softly stretchable, washable wares.  I wish every baby could have some of these.

Debbie Englund "Face Mug" at the Joyful Jewel 5-8-13

Face Mug

Debbie Englund

ceramic, ~ 4" x 4 1 /2"

$25

Get your morning off to a laugh and wake up too, with this whimsical face mug by Debbie Englund.  I love the eyebrows and red lips, but most of all I love, because I recognize it, the exasperated expression that one sees in their loved ones when silliness takes over!

Debbie says, "Each piece is unique.  Just like all over the world no two faces are exactly the same.  After I have the vessel-mug, jug etc. (or plaque), I’ll usually start with the nose and then make the other features fit the face.  After applying the features I’ll do a little carving to enhance the expression.  I’m happy when their faces make people smile.  Also they are dishwasher and food safe.
