Vangi & Bob Cathcart "My Mother" at the Joyful Jewel 5-9-14

"My Mother"

Poem by Robert Cathcart, Painting by Vangi Cathcart

8" x 10" on Paper (also available framed or as a card)

$8

Vangi Cathcart painted this sweet scene of a mother bird taking care of her nest to go with the Mother's Day poem that her husband author Robert Cathcart wrote.  The paintings are each original works of art painted in watercolor Sumi-e style on quality papers that have the poem printed on them.  This painting is on a cloth-like cream colored paper.  The poem honors the myriad roles a mother plays from protection to pushing out of the nest and giving courage.

Vangi Cathcart "The Lover" Sumi-e Rabbit at the Joyful Jewel 4-17-14

"The Lover"

Vangi Cathcart

Framed to 9" x 11", Watercolor and Ink, Original

$35

I believe that Vangi Cathcart painted this very alert and charming bunny for a Chinese Year of the Rabbit.  He is painted in traditional Sumi-e technique with hand ground inks and watercolor.  Vangi's choice of "The Lover" is interesting.  I see him coming courting at your door in his best tuxedo colors with a bouquet of fresh flowers behind his back.  Surely this will entice you out to play.

In tribute to an earlier in time Easter, Vangi Cathcart painted this alert and alluring companion hare.  She is a wild hare influenced by the brilliant light of a full moon night.  Dance Sister dance!

A variety of small pieces of original art
Sumi-e watercolor paintings by Vangi Cathcart

Who says fine art originals are expensive!  Look at the every-so skillfully and beautifully painted book marks, smaller unframed piece, and even a matted painting $2 - $15 that Vangi Cathcart offers.  Vangi is one of those artists who just wants to paint! - and to have her work appreciated and shared by as many people as possible.  A gift from the heart, "local art fresh from the heart."  Yes, she also has more elaborate masterpieces which require a bigger price.  Each is perfect in its own time and place.

Vangi Cathcart "Roses and Chickadee" at the Joyful Jewel 11-27-13

"Roses and Chickadee"

Vangi Cathcart

Watercolor Painting, 8" x 10" Matted, Original

$25

Soooo beautifully soft and dreamy, this lovely scene Vangi Cathcart painted of a chickadee singing to the roses.  These look like wild roses to me and ones that have just finished their prime blooming time.  If I stop for a minute, I think I can still smell them.  Can you?

"A Good Place for Hunting & Fishing"

Vangi Cathcart

Ink and Watercolor, 12" x 22", Framed, Original

$100

Using her extensive training as a Sumi-e water color artist, Vangi Cathcart has created a pictoral presentation of what must be inspired by  North Carolina!  Although it likely came from a traditional Oriental saying, it certainly applies to Summer & Fall activities we love right here in our own lovely state.  I think I see the fish biting in the pond -- let's go!

Every cat seems to love being in the flower bed.  Vangi Cathcart has captured the expression of pure innocence and play in this friendly feline.  Miss Priss seems to love the morning glories as she is resting gently just between the plants and within sniffing distance of a bloom.
