Stirring to meet a new brightly sunny day, these "Three Little Foxes" by Emma Skurnick, look like they have mischief on their minds.  Yet, lazing in total comfort they are waiting for a bird to flitter by or a frog to jump out right in front of them to awaken their true scampering nature.  This will be me on Sunday when I have little incentive to get up early.  Then let the scampering begin!

Beautiful flowers recycled and rearranged to match the bright sunshine of this day.  Perhaps they and the cute birdhouse -- and Beth Shaffer who made them -- are certain that Spring will come.  However just a mere opening of the door reminds me that it is still Winter.  I want to experience making something so colorful and cheery with both realities in mind like Beth does.

Who says fine art originals are expensive!  Look at the every-so skillfully and beautifully painted book marks, smaller unframed piece, and even a matted painting $2 - $15 that Vangi Cathcart offers.  Vangi is one of those artists who just wants to paint! - and to have her work appreciated and shared by as many people as possible.  A gift from the heart, "local art fresh from the heart."  Yes, she also has more elaborate masterpieces which require a bigger price.  Each is perfect in its own time and place.

We have lots of ornaments at the Joyful Jewel, and this one by Tamera Cooke is one of my favorites.  She has sculpted steel to make a dimensional multi-pointed star.  She painted the steel  with an especially beautiful blue swirl layered-looking paint, and sealed it to preserve the color and prevent rust or wear.  Then she mounted and hung the ornament from a curly-q length of sturdy copper wire.  This Star will withstand weather for outside, and it will shine beautifully all year round.

The pepper grinders are my favorite of Orlan Johnson's wood work, and this one is exceptionally beautiful with the variety of woods and cherry colored (probably cherry wood) inserts and sensuous shape.  This would make a nice gift for the man in your life who loves pepper on everything.  Hmmmm, perhaps DG would like this!
