Rita Baldwin "Sitting on the Edge" at the Joyful Jewel 8-21-15

"Sitting on the Edge"
Rita Baldwin
Oil Painting

Here kitty kitty.  Looking pensive yet alert, a beauty "Sitting on the Edge" in Rita Baldwin's painting, I think she would rather smell the flowers than come over to say hello.  There is a lesson in this.

Rita Baldwin "Azalea Garden" at the Joyful Jewel 1-21-15

"Azalea Garden"
Rita Baldwin
Original Oil Painting, on Canvas

If the weather keeps up like this we will soon be seeing azalea's bloom as in Rita Baldwin's dynamic flower-full painting.  First will be crocus and daffodils to color our green. She has probably painted some of those too.  Rita captured so many of the shades and styles of azaleas in this painting which one would enjoy over again each time it is seen.

Rita Baldwin "Testing the Waters" at the Joyful Jewel 10-18-14

"Testing the Waters"
Rita Baldwin
Original Oil Painting on Canvas, 19 3/4" x 19 3/4"
$350

Let hair fly and dresses billow! I hope to have as much fun in the next few days at the beach "testing the waters" as these three in Rita Baldwin's sumptuous and fetching oil painting.  Rita has captured the breezy movement in the air and sky as well as the swishing movement in the water.

Rita Baldwin "Azalea Path" at the Joyful Jewel 5-28-14

"Azalea Path"
Rita Baldwin
Oil on Canvas, 20" x 16"
$300, Original

Magnificent!  Rita Baldwin's brilliant red azaleas draw you deeply into the scene.  This past weekend DG and I saw a Flame Azalea tree that was more orange, actually a true orange, than these and taller.  The experience was the same -- heart-stopping awe!  A time to let the incredibleness of this world, and of Rita's talent, wash over and cleanse you.

Rita Baldwin "Barn in Winter" at the Joyful Jewel 2-23-14

'Barn in Winter"
Rita Baldwin
Oil painting, framed,original

I couldn't resist putting this on out today on this Spring day (about one week since it looked like this here in NC) of near 70 degrees.  This is a wonderful reminder of how charming and beautiful the snow on an old barn can be.  Of course it's more beautiful when you can just stay home and admire it, watching the changing light of the day like Rita Baldwin showed so richly in this painting.  I'd like to hold on to that soft peaceful, pristinely quiet feeling, carrying it forward into the boisterousness of Spring. Entering into this scene from the warmth of my sunlit deck does the trick.  Thank you Rita.

Rita Baldwin - "Crepe Myrtle Lane" at the Joyful Jewel 11-8-13

"Crepe Myrtle Lane"
Rita Baldwin
Oil Painting, 16" x 12 1/2", Canvas mounted on board, Original
$150

I see a Fall crepe myrtle on my way into work each day just as colorful as this one painted in oils by Rita Baldwin.   I know it's only for a brief time but isn't it wonderful to see this brightness, very much like a Spring color blooming again!  And crepe myrtles are a favorite winter tree of many, including me, because of their sinewy shaped trunks and immaculate creamy smooth dappled bark.  They are a beautiful tree with a different thing to love each time of year.

Rita Baldwin "Zada & Her Zinnias" at the Joyful Jewel 10-8-13

"Zada and Her Zinnias"
Rita Baldwin
Oil on Canvas, 10" x 10"
$125, Original

This scene, captured by oil painter Rita Baldwin, is perfect for this time of year.  Lucky Zada is reaping the reward of tending her Zinnias throughout the Spring and Summer.  What a stunning bouquet she will make!  Perhaps she will even dry some to cheer her through the Winter as well as to  provide seeds for next year's planting.

Rita Baldwin "Debbie's Garden" at the Joyful Jewel 8-29-13

"Debbie's Garden"

Rita Baldwin

Oil, 10" x 10", Original

$125

Lucky one, that Debbie who's garden Rita Baldwin painted.  Surely she smiles every minute of every day looking out at this delightful scene.  Caring for this beauty, lovingly weeding, arranging, watching as each stage urges through growth, bursts out, shines brilliantly and then fades until it's time to rise again.  I think of the gardener I am as I nurture the growth and blossoming of the Joyful Jewel artists, and acknowledge the care and support I also receive as an artist.  Our garden has these colors and countless more.  Wee, too, look with delight.

Rita Baldwin "The Second Gift" at the Joyful Jewel 8-6-13

"The Second Gift"

Rita Baldwin

Oil on Paper, 20 1/2" x 24 1/2", Framed, Original

$450

By "Second Gift" I wonder if Rita Baldwin means that first a flower offers its grandeur as he/she each grows, then in combination with other compatible flowers they become an even grander gift.  Isn't this the same with people?  Each one is special on their own, but what a more powerful gift when offering together.  This painting is a symphony of color, brilliance and utter joy.  Accept what is being offered, let it in deep through all your senses, and become richer through its very existence.

Rita Baldwin "Mountain Mist" at the Joyful Jewel 6-26-13

"Mountain Mist"

Rita Baldwin

Oil on Canvas, 24 1/2" x 16 1/2", Framed, Original

$300

Rita Baldwin's "Mountain Mist" has an ethereal, dreamy vision to it.  The path, right down the center of the piece, leads to a bright yet unsettled sky and an indistinct yet welcoming landscape.  I love these apparent contradictions in this misty scene.  But most of all I want to go down the path and see what is yet to be revealed.

Rita Baldwin "Spring on Chicken Bridge" at the Joyful Jewel 6-8-13

"Spring on Chicken Bridge"

Rita Baldwin,

Oil on Canvas, 20" x 20", Original

$350

I am partial to this new painting by Rita Baldwin, not only because of the stunning beauty of the painting, but because I recognize the Spring scene on Chicken Bridge that I pass on my way in to work at the Joyful Jewel every day.  Rita has made this scene in it's bright blue, green and purple, even more magical and inviting that I had taken time to view.  Each scene, the real one, and the painted one, make me want to stop and put my feet in the water, dream and contemplate on the perfect Spring day.     ~ Mariah
