Shannon Bueker "Peony & Ghost Hound" at the Joyful Jewel 8-9-15

"Peony & the Ghost Hound"
Shannon Bueker
Watercolor

In this large painting, Shannon Bueker has painted magic!  The peony is bold as it should be and is being sharply eyed by an ethereal being, the Ghost Hound.  Some of you writers out there, please tell more the story. Surely this could be a whole novel, spiritual fantasy -- and you'd already have the book cover!

Shannon Bueker "Ibis" at the Joyful Jewel 1-15-15

"Ibis"
Shannon Bueker
Acrylic on Board, 6" x 18"
$100, Original

This is my kind of crowd!  Vibrant in their red and white, each Ibis taking care of him/herself, yet watching out for the other.  As in all of Shannon Bueker's work there is action and dynamic life shown through the activity of everyday life, through background movement and layers of color.

Shannon Bueker "Black Grackle on Birdhouse" at the Joyful Jewel 9-30-14

"Black Grackle on Bird House"

Shannon Bueker

Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 48", Original

$850

In this large painting I see  kind of a new style for Shannon Bueker, perhaps it is because this is acrylic rather than watercolor.  I find the layers interesting & pleasing, and as with her watercolors, that sense of aliveness and movement.   The colors are astounding and although I might not think this every time I look at it, this time I love how the grackle is taking charge, shouting to the universe, "I am here and I rule!"

Shannon Bueker "Horses Angle Down" at the Joyful Jewel 9-12-14

"Horses Angle Down"
Shannon Bueker
15" x 30", Acrylic on Canvas
$450, Original

Shannon Bueker is great at bringing dreams to light and motion.  This painting, titled "Horses Angle Down" certainly has a dreamy quality and is also an interesting composition. Try this: Look at it quickly before you recognize the horses and see how the lines and colors are extraordinary -- seem to have their own story to tell!  Then let the piece come into clear focus and enjoy your own breakfast along with the horses.

Shannon Bueker "Rabbit" at the Joyful Jewel 4-19-14

"Rabbit"
Shannon Bueker
Acrylic on Board, 12" x 12", Original
$160

Much cuter than Bugs Bunny, but perhaps also saying, "What's Up Doc?"  Shannon Bueker's colorful rabbit is ready for conversation.  I think she is taking a break after hiding the Easter eggs, stopping to challenge you to begin your hunt for them.  How many will you have in your basket?

Shannon Bueker "Elephant Folds" at the Joyful Jewel 4-10-14

"Elephant Folds"

Shannon Bueker

Ceramic Sculpture, ~ 7 1/2" x 11", with hanger on the back

$145

Shannon Bueker came in yesterday with new pieces and I thought I had taken a look, yet this morning I was totally awestruck by this powerfully humble elephant sculpture.  Shannon is widely known for her watercolor and acrylic painting, yet she has always done some pottery as well.  I just had to show you this one right away.  Elephant looks like she is entering the room right through the wall where her portrait hangs.  Perhaps aware of her large and intimidating form, she is approaching quietly and with care so that you will see she wants to tell you something.  She asks you for the same consideration as you come for guidance.

Shannon Bueker "Gardening With Animals" at the Joyful Jewel 4-5-14

"Gardening With Animals"
Shannon Bueker
Acrylic on Board, 12" x 12"
$160, Original

Posting this today for all you gardeners out there trying to plant today.  I say, "trying to plant" because -- well you probably know why.  At every planting hole, the cat wants to be petted, and after the radish seeds are covered, the blue jay who has been watching and waiting for you to go inside, has a feast.  I'm not sure what the duck would eat, maybe in this case it's beneficial as he is waiting for the weeds to eat. Perhaps you'll fine other animals in this painting.  Best of luck all :)

Shannon Bueker "Shepard in Asters" at the Joyful Jewel 2-20-14

"Shepherd in Asters"
Shannon Bueker
15" x 30", Acrylic on Canvas, Original

$385

Of all the new paintings that Shannon Bueker brought in recently this is my favorite.  I love the colors of the flowers next to the matte blackness of the dog.  Shannon's paintings always have lots of movement in them but in this one the movement is in the flowers rather than the dog - who looks fully at rest.  Wouldn't you just love to join him in this flower bed, snoozing away a lazy afternoon while the asters grow beneath you!

Shannon Bueker "Paintings & Cards" at the Joyful Jewel 1-14-14

Shannon Bueker - Waterycolor & Acrylic
Variety of Paintings & Cards

Each piece of Shannon Bueker's work has a story and many extra details.  Almost always there are animals that I don't see at first, who ask me to keep looking, to look closer, to discover a mystery, to find the impish sprite.  Looking, I am invited to see through the eyes of the animals, to see what they are seeing and experiencing. What fun to heed the invitation to spend a bit more time, really focus and attend mindfully to what I am looking at.

Shannon Bueker - "Gray Foxes by Road" at the Joyful Jewel 11-17-13

"Gray Foxes by Road"
Shannon Bueker
Acrylic on Canvas, 30" x 15"
$450, Original

What can be more fun to paint than foxes!  And of course, Shannon Bueker is the one to do it and capture their mischievous inquisitive natures.  Here they are alertly going about their business, not far from the thicket they probably live in.  I wonder if they are going out for the evening or just coming home from their adventures.

Shannon Bueker "Animals in the Garden" at the Joyful Jewel 10-31-13

"Animals in the Garden"
Shannon Bueker
Acrylic on Board, 16" x 12"

$200, Original

It is fun to locate and count all the animals Shannon Bueker has painted in this beautiful flower garden.  I love how each animal is in his/her own world, going about their individual lives, minding their own business.  I especially love the goldfinch that, wearing the colors of the flowers, can easily tend to his pursuits without being seen -- even though he is such a bright color!  Sometimes going incognito or anonymously is just what I want to do too - especially on Halloween!  Thank you for the lessons fellow beings (and Shannon).

Shannon Bueker "White Cat Watching" at the Joyful Jewel 8-23-13

"White Cat Watching"

Shannon Bueker

8" x 8" Acrylic on Canvas, Original

$70

What do you think this white cat by Shannon Bueker it watching?  I see at least one bird and there are probably a few insects, maybe a lizard.  Infinite, the number of things you can see if you sit still long enough outdoors.  Let this be a reminder to slow down and attune to the glory around you.

Hey don't eat the sweet peas!  You can have all of the vetch and I'll pet your sweet head.  Ooohhh what a sweet boy . . .  Shannon Bueker seems to always elicit this type of reaction, as if her painting has come to life and is telling you a story.

Shannon Bueker "Alpacas in the Mountains" at the Joyful Jewel 6-11-13

"Alpacas in the Mountains"

Shannon Bueker

8" x 8" Acrylic on Board, Original

$75

Who doesn't love alpacas!  And, these are so full of fun and frolic, each one an individualist in a different color, all ready for a summer adventure.  I'd like to join them in the mountains of NC, to visit a waterfall, and follow a woodland trail.  I won't mind if they want to stop frequently to munch on wildflowers or play in the river. They will have to share the blackberries though.                ~ Mariah

Shannon Bueker "Birds in Grass" ceramic wall piece at the Joyful Jewel 5-18-13

"Birds in Grass"

Shannon Bueker

ceramic wall piece, ~ 9" x 14"

$125

Known so well for her vibrant animal watercolor paintings, Shannon Bueker is less known for her pottery even though I think she's been doing it on the side for a long time.  You can see the same type of nature scene here, with all of the sense of movement in the grass and similar colors as you might find in one of Shannon's paintings.  Yet here it is gracing a three dimensional good-sized wall hanging.
