“Peacock”

The Peacock was birthed in Connecticut where I resided for 25 years and
attended an art class in Avon. The instructor was Chinese and taught us
to paint the oriental way with ink and watercolor on rice paper using
calligraphy stokes. The paint brush was a combination of soft and hard
hairs called a bamboo brush. The bright colors selected are more
contemporary than the traditional style of Chinese paintings. The
instructor demonstrated painting the peacock in class. I began it in
class and it was completed in my studio at home. ~ Vangi Cathcart
